In the post COVID games world, the industry is still trying to find ways to adapt in an all-new kind of way. With the cancellation of last year’s event and subsequent replacement by other digital streams, the Electronic Entertainment Expo is looking at similar forms. Not only following the steps of Nintendo Direct streams but also possibly Valve’s playable demo weeks, the move is interesting to say the least. With the return of E3 2021 digitally on the calendar for early this summer, it could come with even more for players. As Video Games Chronicle reported, E3 is planning to have a digital presence this year with possibility for exclusive E3 demos. However, the Entertainment Software Association has confirmed it will remain free in whatever capacity it takes outside of the digital showcase.

ESA is trying to entice publishers as much as possible as more move to individual showcases as a part of other digital events. Playing exclusive E3 demos does sound great, and it might not be entirely out of the question. This confirmation of the event to stay free for all viewers alike is a good move to ensure an all-inclusive future for E3. Whilst it’s unknown what ESA truly wants for E3 2021, it’s clear that they’re aiming for a resurgence after last year’s cancellation. Utilizing GeForce now for a live demo could be a great opportunity to offer new game snippets in a virtual convention of sorts. Whether it’s going to be at E3 or not, the option is still very well available for other shows that have risen to prominence since. AS the event draws closer, be sure to check back for the latest information on what’s to come for E3 2021.

So what are you expecting from E3 this year? Let us know in the comments below!
