Bleed damage in Elden Ring is still the rage these days, especially since it takes big chunks off of boss HP bars. So it’s understandable if you want to get into that kind of meta. While not all weapons are good Bleed candidates, that limitation typically doesn’t matter with the Bloodflame Blade in Elden Ring. It’s an Incantation that can buff most single-damage-type weapons. Hence, I’ll be guiding you on where to get Bloodflame Blade in Elden Ring.
Elden Ring Bloodflame Blade Location
[Updated on June 18, 2024 – Added more detailed instructions and images]
Like all Ashes of War, getting Bloodflame Blade can be tricky since you need to chase around scarabs and slay them before they disappear. Bloodflame Blade’s particular Teardrop Scarab resides near the Rose Church in Liurnia of the Lakes.
Refer to the image above for the exact location and what you should be looking for in the particular area. Here’s a step-by-step process to smoothen your hunt for the Bloodflame Blade.
- Equip a fast weapon with a long reach (spears, Nagakiba katana).
- Teleport to the Fallen Ruins of the Lakes Site of Grace.
- Mount up Torrent.
- Head west towards Rose Church.
- While facing west, go around to the north of the Rose Church.
- Look for the Teardrop Scarab and charge towards it with Torrent. Lock on it once you’ve seen it.
- Tip: Try to chase it toward or around the Rose Church instead of away from the Rose Church. You can also block the scarab.
- Slay the Teardrop Scarab with a fast weapon.
Don’t let the Teardrop Scarab get too far, as chasing it all over the lake means you might attract the attention of other enemies, particularly those cheating and unfair Giant Crayfish snipers.
You can also try to snipe the Teardrop Scarab with Lightning or Glintstone Sorcerery if you have that kind of build.
How To Use Bloodflame Blade in Elden Ring
Bloodflame Blade will enhance your weapon with the following buffs and effects:
Fire attack power (scales with Faith) |
Hemorrhage status effect (Bleed) |
Buff lasts 60 seconds |
It costs 10 Stamina to cast |
You also need the following stats for it:
- Faith 12
- Arcane 10
And to cast it, you need a Sacred Seal for casting Incantations. You also need to have Bloodflame Blade equipped on your spell quick slot.
It’s thus mostly for Faith builds who want to dip into Bleed mechanics, but you can ignore the Fire-Faith scaling if all you want is Bleed. As I mentioned earlier, you can also only use this buff on weapons with pure Physical damage.
So, while it might not work with elemental-split weapons, Bloodflame Blade actually works on Bloodhound’s Fang or other weapons with the innate Bleed effect. And Given how you can acquire this too early (even before fighting Margit if you want), you can make some pretty busted builds from the start.
