If you want a very powerful weapon in Elden Ring, get yourself a legendary armament like the Bolt of Gransax. It’s this massive, spiral spear shaped like a lightning bolt. You would’ve seen one on your way through the Royal Capital—the giant spear wedged into the castle walls. Not only does it give a long reach to your melee attack, like most spears do, you get a ranged attack with its Ancient Lightning Spear skill. If your build focuses on strength and dexterity, give it a try!
How To Get The Bolt of Gransax In Elden Ring
[Update June 14, 2024 – Rewrote and clarified instructions and added new images]
Let’s first make something very clear: the Bolt of Gransax is a missable weapon. If you’ve defeated Maliketh, the Black Blade, turning the Royal Capital into the Ashen Capital in the process, then you cannot obtain the Bolt of Gransax. The spear will be locked off to you until NG+.
With that said and done, start your journey by fast traveling to the Erdtree Sanctuary site of grace. It’s the closest site of grace that puts you stone’s throw away from the Bolt of Gransax. Leave the room, down the steps, and take the elevator down. Look out over the Royal Capital and you’ll see a giant, spiral object reaching for the skies. That’s where you’ll find the Bolt of Gransax!
Keep descending the stairs and follow the path towards the spear until you come to the two stone statues overlooking the Bolt of Grasnax. Walk past the statues and hug the stone railing until you find a gap. Jump onto the gap, then jump down to the balcony below. You’ll take a little damage, but ‘tis only a scratch.
Dust yourself off, jump down to where the spear is embedded in the wall and walk up to the very top of the spear to find the Bolt of Gransax in Elden Ring.
