Several NPCs can be found in the Lands Between that have their own side quest, with some even affecting the ending that you can get to the game. One such quest comes from the Fia, the Deathbed Companion. As a part of her questline, you will need to get a key item known as the Weathered Dagger. How To Get The Weathered Dagger In Elden Ring
The start of Fia’s questline can be started from the first time you enter the Roundtable Hold. Enter her room found next to Hewg the Blacksmith, and talk to her. When prompted, accept her hug to begin the quest Baldachin’s Blessing. You do not need to keep hold of the item since it will lower your HP, but you do need to hug Fia at least once to initiate the questline. From here, you can return to Fia for another Blessing if you use the one she gives you, but there is no reason to talk to her for a while as her quest won’t progress, and you won’t get the Dagger until you reach Altus Plateau. Once you enter the new region, you can return to Fia and have her hold you, which is when you will be given the prompt “Talk in secret.” Let the dialogue play out, and select the “May I ask a favor?” prompt. This is when Fia will give you the Weathered Dagger.

With the Weathered Dagger in your possession, you can give it to D, The Hunter of the Dead, who is another NPC you can find in the Roundtable Hold. Giving him the Dagger will cause his death, but it will progress her questline.
