Do you want to know how to get to Altus Plateau in Elden Ring? Elden Ring is an open-world Souls-like RPG from FromSoftware and Bandai Namco. It has amassed a huge fan base since its release in early 2022, and in addition to an enormous world and a ton of challenging bosses in single-player mode, players will reveal secret out-of-reach locations.

One of these locations is Altus Plateau. One of the toughest regions to unlock in the vast world, and you will need to complete a few prerequisites. This guide will show you how to get to Altus Plateau in Elden Ring.

What is Altus Plateau in Elden Ring?

Altus Plateau is one of the main regions in this eponymous RPG and a getaway to the capital city of Leyendell, found directly north of Liurnia. It is home to a number of different bosses, including Godefroy the Grafted.

How to Reach Altus Plateau in Elden Ring

There are a couple of ways to get to the Altus Plateau in Elden Ring. However, the easiest way is through the Grand Lift of Dectus.

To activate the Grand Lift of Dectus, the Dectus Left Medallion and the Dectus Right Medallion are required. Here are the locations to find them:

  • Left Medallion: Travel to Fort Haight in the Mistwood region, defeat the elite knight, and turn right out of the battle arena. You’ll find a room with a ladder inside, climb it, and retrieve the Medallion from a chest.
  • Right Medallion: You can find this item at Fort Faroth, inside Dragonbarrow. Run past or fight the dragons to get to the Fort and then take a left to find the room with a ladder. The Right Medallion is inside this room.

These medallions will unlock the Grand Lift of Dectus.

To get to the dangerous Altus Plateau in Elden Ring, players must first locate the Grand Lift of Dectus in Liurnia of the Lakes region.

Once there, players should offer the Medallions they collected to the statues. By doing so, they will activate the lift and make it usable.

Ride the lift to the top and exit to get to the Altus Plateau in Elden Ring. Head north immediately and activate the nearby Site of Grace. This will create a fast travel point for quicker future access to the area. This will allow players to finally reach the Altus Plateau in the game.

If you want to avoid collecting medallions and all the scuffle it includes, you can take on a treacherous path up the Ruin-Strewn Precipice nearby. This will lead you to a narrow mountain pass into the plateau.
