Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is finally here, and given how brutal its new difficulty scaling is, you’re going to need all the help you can get. Sometimes, that kind of help means re-speccing your character to a different build to see if you can now take on the Blackgaol Knight after severely underestimating him. And when it comes to re-speccing, you need Larval Tears (and you need tons of them). Hence, I present a locations guide for all the Larval Tears in the Elden Ring base game.
[Updated on June 22, 2024 – Revised the guide and added more detailed locations, instructions, and images]
Limgrave Larval Tear Locations in Elden Ring
Limgrave only has one Larval Tear and it’s tucked away to the east of Agheel Lake South Site of Grace. Look for a Wandering Noble enemy marked on the map, it wields a sword but is secretly a Lesser Runebear that will transform when attacked.
So yes, get ready to fight a Runebear to get your Larval Tear.
Liurnia Larval Tears Locations in Elden Ring
There are four Larval Tears in Liurnia of the Lakes. To simplify your search, I’ve turned them into a list. Also, refer to the images above for their visual locations.
Stone Coffins in the Village of the Albinaurics
Just before the bridge and east of the Site of Grace.
Giant Crayfish Disguised as a Grafted Scion Southeast of Rose Church
Head southeast of Rose Church towards the Gazebo, and you’ll spot a Grafted Scion. Again, attack the Grafted Scion to reveal its true form.
Graveyard Ghost Due East of Caria Manor
To get here, you need to have defeated Royal Knight Loretta first. Also, you can obtain the Resurrection Painting. The Larval Tear is on a ghost sitting on a chair in the aforementioned Caria Manor graveyard.
Pidia, Carian Servant in Caria Manor
Again, you need to have defeated Royal Knight. You will need to jump down a ledge and down to the building’s rooftop entrance on the east of Ranni’s Rise to get to Pidia. Refer to the image for the location.
Caelid Larval Tear Locations in Elden Ring
In Caelid, there’s only one Larval Tear. Near the stone coffins south of Caelid Highway South Site of Grace, you can find a Wandering Noble that will turn into a Troll when attacked.
Siofra River Larval Tear Locations in Elden Ring
For a simpler location, look for the Nomadic Merchant in the Siofra River. He’ll sell you the Larval Tear for 3,000 Runes. Climb the wooden scaffolding to get to him.
Nokron Larval Tears Locations in Elden Ring
There are five Larval Tears in Nokron, Eternal City. Most of them are easy pickings though you will need to explore around a bit to get to them.
Building Southeast of Nokron, Eternal City Site of Grace
Look for a corpse inside a stone building, southeast of the Site of Grace.
Gazebo in Nokron, Eternal City
Again, it’s on a corpse inside the gazebo before the Mimic Tear boss. It’s surrounded by Silver Tear slimes.
Silver Sphere in Night’s Sacred Ground
Kill the Silver Sphere inside the church building in Night’s Sacred Ground (easier said than done) and it will drop the Larval Tear.
Mimic Tear Boss
If you haven’t defeated it already, the Mimic Tear boss will drop two Larval Tears. It’s typically an easy fight; you can even unequip your weapons and armor before it mimics you to make the fight easier.
Nokstella Larval Tears Locations in Elden Ring
For Nokstella, there are three Larval Tears, and all of them drop from Silver Spheres in the area. If you want to be sure, just kill all the Silver Spheres you encounter in Nokstella.
Bridge in Nokstella, Eternal City
There’s one big bridge in the region, and it’s where the cruel Silver Sphere is located. You likely have to kill it anyway to be able to cross.
Silver Sphere Hanging from the Ceiling
After the bridge, there’s a building in the northeast of Nokstella. This building has a hanging Silver Sphere inside and it drops in an ambush whenever you enter. Likewise, it drops a Larval Tear too.
Building Ceiling Up the Stairs After the Bridge
Again, after the bridge, if you climb up the stairs and reach the top, you will find another Silver Sphere hanging from the ceiling. It drops Silver Tears if you haven’t gotten close. It also drops a Larval Tear when killed.
Altus Plateau Larval Tear Locations in Elden Ring
Look for a Wandering Noble in the ruins southeast of Windmill Village and east of the Minor Erdtree. He’s near some ruins on a clifftop. This Wandering Noble is actually a Lion Guardian so prepare for a tough fight for that Larval Tear.
Mt. Gelmir Larval Tear Locations in Elden Ring
This time around, the Larval Tear drops from a Wormface masquerading as a Putrid Corpse enemy next to a bonfire in a camp. Start from Wyndham Ruins in Altus and follow the map image, or just head east from the Road of Iniquity Site of Grace.
Consecrated Snowfield Larvel Tear Locations in Elden Ring
Finally, look for another Wandering Noble southeast of the Inner Consecrated Snowfield Site of Grace. This Wandering Noble is another Lesser Runebear that will drop a Larval Tear when slain.
In summary, indiscriminately slay the following enemies in any location in the game for a chance to get a Larval Tear:
- Silver Sphere
- Wandering Noble
- Putrid Corpse
- Grafted Scion
Apart from that, always loot corpses and check Merchant inventories. You never know when your Larval Tear is just around the corner.
