Elden Ring White Mask Varre Quest Guide
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

One of the most unforgettable characters of Elden Ring is White Mask Varre, the first NPC that Tarnished pilgrims meet on their journey through the Lands Between. Varre will teach the protagonist how the Sites of Grace work and where their first destination should be — Castle Stormveil. However, the most notable statement that most players will remember about this NPC is being tagged as “maidenless,” a comical yet ironically accurate observation about the Tarnished protagonist. However, White Mask Varre is not only a guide NPC but also offers a quest that will reward adventurers handsomely for its completion.

How to Complete White Mask Varre’s Quest in Elden Ring

Elden Ring How To Complete White Mask Varre Questline

To start White Mask Varre’s quest in Elden Ring, Tarnished travelers must first defeat Godrick, the Demigod of Stormveil. Afterward, they must make their way to the Rose Church in Liurnia of the Lakes, the region north of Limgrave. Here, White Mask Varre will give the protagonist five Festering Bloody Fingers to invade other players’ worlds.

Only three of the five Festering Bloody Fingers need to be used to progress White Mask Varre’s quest in Elden Ring. Furthermore, players do not need to do anything after invading another person’s world. As long as they consume the finger and successfully enter the world, they can leave immediately to return to their own. Perform this three times and speak with Varre again to receive a new task. The White Masked NPC will give Tarnished the Lord of Blood’s Favor, a cloth that must be doused in the blood of a Finger Maiden. To fulfill this assignment, head to the Church of Inhibition in the northeast of Liurnia and interact with the corpse in the ruins. Return to Varre with the blood-soaked cloth to receive the Bloody Finger and the Pureblood Knight’s Medal.

The Pureblood Knight’s Medal is a teleportation device that can be activated to transport Tarnished outside the steps of Mohgwyn Palace near the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance Site of Grace. However, before entering the palace, players can head to a large lake of blood with a Giant Crow to the south to be invaded by Varre. After defeating him, reload the area and go to the same spot to be invaded a second time. This time, he will drop his War Surgeon Armor Set. Finally, to complete White Mask Varre’s quest in Elden Ring, return to the palace and use his red summoning sign to invade his world and kill him. After he’s been defeated, players will receive his unique weapon, Varré’s Bouquet.

Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
