So many people are struggling financially right now, wondering how they’ll be able to afford the simplest of things. The sad truth is that families are going to go without shelter, food, health insurance, and more in the upcoming months. A Georgia woman decided to make a video outlining her total disgust for people on EBT benefits and what she really thinks. Now, an elementary school teacher is setting the record straight on some of the points she made. And, she’s creatively using math and her own knowledge regarding the economy to explain why this woman is wrong.
Tiktoker @totalhypocrisy, an elementary school teacher, has clearly had enough. So, when she saw a recent video made by @Nawlinsmom, she had to speak up. In that video, Adrianne, a mother from Georgia, had some nasty things to say to people on EBT benefits who might not be able to eat next month due to the government shutdown. Adrianne claims that people who have been on EBT for years because they “can’t figure out how to go get a job.” She says that, “You’re cheating people like me” and she’s clearly happy that people’s benefits are about to go away. Adrianne also thinks that people on EBT benefits are just making excuses, which says a lot about her as a person. It also shows she has zero understanding of how life works for those who qualify for benefits of any kind.
Now, Total Hypocrisy is setting the record straight with people who think like Adrianne. She starts by saying that Adrianne has to imagine a nuclear family where both parents are working but they only have minimum wage jobs. This means that they’re making $7.25 an hour. She said their monthly gross incomes at 40 hours per week would only be $2,512. But, consider the fact that taxes would be taken out. This is barely over $30,000 a year. How is a family with two parents and a couple of children supposed to live off of that? And on top of that, we didn’t even consider household expenses and health insurance. They don’t; that’s where benefits come in.
Unfortunately, people like Adrianne have very little heart for fellow humans and doesn’t seem to care. She thinks people need to get better jobs or work more hours so that they can survive without government assistance. She’s a conservative, so she doesn’t understand how the world works when you’re poor and struggling to get out of your situation. Thanks to people like Total Hypocrisy, we can gain a better understanding of the federal poverty level. This helps us understand how vital it is for families to get the help they need. When they don’t, they go without food, shelter, medical care, and more. This is no way to force people to live.
As one commenter pointed out on Total Hypocrisy’s video, “Many Americans are a few missed paychecks or one large unexpected expense away from needing help.” Another person asked, “Does she not know a ton of military get SNAP? Spouses have a hella hard time staying with a job due to moves.” But see, Adrianne doesn’t care. She only cares about her own interests and feeding lies to Americans so that people will divide even further. And as that divide widens, more people lose their humanity.
