Oddly enough, Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are looking to ditch the United Kingdom. For where many may ask? Their return to California. For a couple who made a theatrical point of fleeing the United States the moment Donald Trump reclaimed the White House.
This sudden change of heart is raising eyebrows. Especially given the lingering tension between Ellen and the president, she once couldn’t escape fast enough.

When Donald Trump re-entered the White House, Ellen DeGeneres didn’t exactly keep her feelings quiet. In fact, she made quite a public fuss, revealing her frustration with his policies. That frustration allegedly fueled her move to England.
However, according to the Daily Mail, now that winter has hit, the pair’s love for the country has lost its shine. Sources say the once-determined to stay abroad until the U.S. felt “bearable” again. Well, that just isn’t as important as it used to be.
Ellen DeGeneres’ Return To the USA Will Likely Reignite Feud with Donald Trump
Portia reportedly wants to get back into acting circles. Not to mention Ellen misses the comfort of familiar faces and her California community. She also desires to rebuild her television career. Slowly but surely, the couple’s strong political beliefs appear to be fading.
Now insiders claim the couple is planning to spend the holidays in California. But with no clear timeline on when or if they will ever head back to the U.K., so after all the dramatic declarations and pointed Trump-era commentary, the couple who once couldn’t flee America fast enough appear to be circling back.

“Next, it will be Rosie. These people are ridiculous,” one commenter writes.
“Total hypocrites!” another adds.
‘These type of people are not really welcome anywhere,” a third states.
“Good luck with that, since you turned over citizenship and left. The waiting list is about 10 years. Enjoy,” one more chimes in.
Of course, the real wild card in all of this is how Donald Trump will react when Ellen DeGeneres strolls back into the country. The same country she once insisted she couldn’t tolerate under his leadership. Given their long history of friction, he’s unlikely to greet her return with a warm welcome basket.
Whether President Trump fires off a snide comment, pretends not to notice, or relishes the chance to point out her U-turn, the tension between them isn’t disappearing anytime soon. And knowing how publicly their past grievances played out, things could get pretty nasty over the holidays.
