Ellen Pompeo is one of the reasons for the show’s popularity and allowed Shonda Rhimes to become a big name in television. It’s no surprise Pompeo is still a lead in Grey’s Anatomy, even if she will limit her role next season. She has spoken openly about the series being able to continue without her.
