Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Digital Price Confirmed at $59.99, $10 Cheaper Than Physical

Saving Hyrule — and ten bucks, while you’re at it

After its much-hyped reveal during the June Nintendo Direct, Nintendo has showcased more of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. September’s special Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct gave us a much closer look at how the N64 classic is being modernised for Switch 2. More importantly for your wallet, Nintendo also confirmed Ocarina of Time will cost $59.99 digitally and $69.99 physically.

The Direct and Nintendo Store listing confirmed the pricing alongside several new additions to Link’s time-traveling adventure. Quest markers have apparently been added to make navigating Hyrule a little easier. The towns have been fleshed out, too, complete with a new day-night lighting system giving everything a livelier look. The remake also features full voice acting, with Princess Ruto, Saria, and Darunia among the characters we heard. The most fun addition so far, however? Nintendo’s Eiji Aonuma shows that you can hum into your controller as if you were playing an actual ocarina.

While the remake does look modern and impressive, not everyone is sold on every change. Over on Reddit, some fans aren’t convinced by its ‘uncanny’ stylized-yet-realistic art direction. Others have questioned Nintendo’s decision to keep the original loading screens to ‘preserve the feel of the original game.’ Especially when the remake is already adding modern conveniences like voice acting and quest markers anyway. “Tbh, reads to me as ‘the switch 2 can’t do a seamless world, here’s our excuse’,” wrote one Redditor.

Nevertheless, alongside the pricing details, Nintendo is going big for Zelda‘s 40th anniversary. Beyond remaking one of its most beloved games, the company announced other things that should please series’ die-hard fans. Including Amiibos and a special edition Switch 2, among others, which you can read all the details in our Direct write-up.

Still, Ocarina of Time‘s $10 price gap between the physical and digital releases isn’t entirely unexpected. Earlier this year, Nintendo announced that new first-party Switch 2 exclusives would start having different MSRPs depending on which format you buy. The policy kicked off in May 2026 with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book‘s preorders, which similarly cost $59.99 digitally and $69.99 physically.

There is also another important catch to remember. The pricing policy covers only Nintendo-published Switch 2 exclusives, so third-party and cross-gen releases aren’t guaranteed the same treatment.

Nevertheless, considering digital games consistently cost just as much — or more — as something you can actually put on a shelf? Being able to save $10 isn’t a bad consolation prize for giving up the cartridge. Either way, we’ll see whether Nintendo’s return to 1998 can live up to its legendary reputation when Ocarina of Time remake launches for Switch 2 on November 5.
