Alongside the director, the film will come from a screenplay by Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb, the writers behind the upcoming Hot Wheels movie.
The Fisherwoman will follow the widow of a fisherman, played by Emma Thompson, stuck in a Minnesota blizzard and witnesses the kidnapping of a teenager. She attempts to become the hero to save the victim. No other casting was announced to fill out the roster of roles.
Greg Silverman, Jon Berg, Jonas Katzenstein, and Maximilian Leo produce. Executive producing with the leading star consists of Gideon Yu, Chris Bosco, Jonathan Saubach, Michael Rothstein, and Sam Hall.
Emma Thompson taking on leading role in action thriller The Fisherwoman
Adding The Fisherwoman to the schedule, Emma Thompson is adding the action thriller to her strong filmography. In recent years, she starred in What’s Love Got to Do with it?, Cruella, Dolittle, and Men in Black: International. She previously won Oscars for Howards End and Sense and Sensibility. She had been nominated for In the Name of the Father, The Remains of the Day, and a nomination for her acting role in Sense and Sensibility, which she had won for her writing.
The film will be the first movie since the Chadwick Boseman-led film 21 Bridges for the director. He has been largely known for his TV work, like the Idris Elba series Luther, Penny Dreadful, Boardwalk Empire, Dexter, and episodes three, four, and five in season 1 of Game of Thrones. Next up, he will work on the series Citadel, which will star Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci, and Richard Madden.
Knowing only one major role for The Fisherwoman, with Emma Thompson taking the spot, the film is still in early development. No date is known for when it will release.
