Emma Watson had a fair number of her Instagram confused as she updated with a photo only showing parts of her body catching rays from shallow ocean waters last summer. Posting in June 2022, the Harry Potter star shared one image forming part of a collage setup on her social media, with the whole thing coming as promo for the Prada Beauty brand she fronts.
Topping up her tan in a bathing suit, Emma gained over 700,000 fan likes, however many users seemed lost when it came to processing what they were seeing. Emma is signed to fragrance Prada Paradoxe, but has also made headlines for taking on a Creative Director role for her ads with the Italian label.
Emma Watson Confuses Instagram With Beach Snap
The image made sense when looking at the grid setup on Emma’s Instagram, but alone, it showed only hints of her back, shoulders, plus one leg kicked up behind her.
Laying on her front and amid shallow ocean waters, Emma topped up her tan as she enjoyed a shorefront moment, modeling a form-fitting, sporty black swimsuit with a racer back and high neckline. Stunning the camera as she rested her upper body on one arm, Emma posed from a yellow surfboard, keeping her glam summery and low-key and rocking only a light layer of sunkissed makeup.
Fans Don’t Understand What They’re Seeing
The image below garnered the most confused comments. Emma had also opted out of a caption, only tagging Prada Beauty.
“I saw this pic before the others and was so confused,” one fan said, with others liking the comment.
“What exactly am I seeing here?” another said, possibly having seen only the image as a feed update and without the grid context. “Just spent way too long trying to fix my phone and flipping through screens on IG before finally making sense of this photo,” a third fan chimed in. Some, however, appreciated what was going on, with one user even replying: “This is a good way to make more money from a single photo by posting it differently.”
Emma joins the long list of celebrities signed to major brands. While mogul Kim Kardashian fronts Balenciaga and Dolce & Gabbana, actress Sydney Sweeney handles Miu Miu. Meanwhile, pop singer Miley Cyrus is the face of Gucci. Emma has fronted labels including British designer Burberry in the past.
“To tell my own story and frame myself, to get to be in charge of my own image felt genuinely exciting,” Emma stated of fronting Prada’s scent and leading the campaign’s Creative Direction.
