Respecting workers should be common sense. Yet many in the service industry, especially delivery drivers, face mistreatment and hostility they don’t deserve. It’s time to change how we treat the people who keep daily life running. Rather than showing respect to her DoorDasher, a Florida woman decided to be entitled. She recorded herself lying in bed with a frozen pack on her forehead, claiming she was too hungover to step outside to pick up her order. Instead of asking a friend for help, she had the driver bring the delivery directly into her bedroom.
It’s safe to say most viewers of the video dragged the Florida woman. Her behavior came off as entitled, and on top of that, she frightened the DoorDasher, who is Hispanic. She told him, “Gracias,” even though he understood English. At a time when ICE is aggressively targeting immigrants, her actions left a man terrified simply because she didn’t want to get up. The situation could have ended badly for her as well. What if something went wrong or the driver had ill intentions? Common sense seems to be in short supply. While this incident ended without harm, that doesn’t make it acceptable.
People Reacting to the Entitled Florida Woman
Many people felt the Florida woman’s actions were downright insane. What she may have thought was funny came across to others as incredibly rude. “This is kinda rude???” one woman wrote. Another woman found the situation weird as she said, “This is so weird girl.” One person was also upset that the woman filmed the DoorDasher solely to create a TikTok. “Very strange and entitled behavior. Recording him. Oof,” they wrote. Others pointed out how this was dangerous to the girl and the guy, while another person said, “That’s so dangerous on both sides.” Some comments also pointed out how the DoorDasher looked scared while delivering the order. “Girl HE looks scared,” someone wrote.
More comments advised the Florida woman that she shouldn’t do this again. “Please don’t do this again. You’re lucky he was a safe person, this could have ended very badly,” one person wrote. It definitely could have ended badly. There was even a delivery driver who said that they hate it when people do this kind of thing. “As a delivery driver i HATE when people try and get me to come INSIDE their house that is nottttttt in my job description,” they wrote. Not all comments were against the Florida woman, though, since some people defended her. “First of all if he didn’t want to come into her house he would have told her. He didn’t mind. She probably told him she was sick and he felt bad. She literally has a frozen bag on her head,” one TikTok user said. It still wasn’t a wise thing to do.
