I know that salesmen have a job to do. We all do. The only problem is that they don’t know when and where to do it. Instead of respecting people’s wishes who don’t want to listen to door-to-door pitches, they ignore this completely. An entitled solar salesman in Utah showed exactly why people hate those who do the same job. In a video taken by the salesman named Sam, he knocks on a resident’s door. When the man inside asks him what he needs, Sam decides to be disrespectful and act like he can teach the old man a lesson in manners. He tells him, “It’s hi, how are you?” like he is talking to a toddler. The owner then asks “What does it say?” which probably means that he already had a sign stating he doesn’t want any pitches.
Sam only looks at the sign before saying his pitch either way. You only get more annoyed when the house owner says that he had to hang up on a call to answer the door; he thought it was something important. As the salesman keeps going, the owner asks him “Are you out of your mind?” Instead of taking the hint and leaving, this Sam guy decides to reply and say, “Last I checked no.” This was the last straw for the old man, who then asked, “Don’t you have any respect?” only for the guy to say, “A lot of it.” At this point, you hate the entire interaction. You then start hating the guy when he asks “So do you want solar?” The entitled dude also smiles with what can only be described as a obnoxious smile. The worst thing is that he filmed this and posted it thinking that he did nothing wrong. As if people would feel bad for someone who was acting this way.
People Reacting to the Entitled Utah Salesman
It doesn’t come as a surprise that a lot of people found the Utah salesman to be annoying as well. Some started calling him names as one person said, “This guy is a f**king trash human being.” When someone tried to defend him in the replies, that person was dragged as well as one Redditor told them, “No, because he is a trash human being. If you see his behaviour and think ‘I don’t See a problem’ then you are trash too.” Another Redditor mentioned their own experience with an annoying salesman like the Utah one. They wrote:
“He’s really thinks he’s doing something. And these people wonder why ‘no soliciting’ signs exist lol. Had someone knock on our door one time (they were a window salesman) and when we opened up, he didn’t bother to try to sell us stuff. Instead he tried to blame us for ‘taking away peoples jobs’ with signs like the one we had.”
Pick a different job or respect people’s wishes. Since Sam here wasn’t exactly respectful, someone said that he is “very punchable.” That’s one way to show your annoyance. Another person wrote, “I say again POS.” Someone else decided to take matters into their own hands as they said, “I think I’m going to drop Ambia solar a message telling them about Sam and his harassing tactics. Perhaps leave a review on their website. Sam is an asshole and Sam should not have a job.” Aside from insulting the salesman, several people also pointed out that even if the homeowner wanted solar, he shouldn’t buy it because someone knocked on his door and offered it. Imagine, though, if this salesman ended up losing his job because he thought he would be praised if he filmed himself teaching a man how to talk to him. He won’t be smiling then.
