Epic Games claimed Capturing Reality along with its state-of-the-art 3D scanning software today. RealityCapture is used to construct 3D assets off of images or laser scans in incredible detail.
Epic Games & Capturing Reality
Teddy Bergsman, Senior Director, Quixel at Epic Games had the following to say:
RealityCapture is the clear market leader in photogrammetry and has been integral to the creation of Quixel Megascans since its inception. We are beyond excited to welcome Capturing Reality to our team, and to accelerate our shared vision to enable anyone to scan the world,”
Epic Games will add RealityCapture to the Unreal Engine ecosystem. Alongside the recently acquired MetaHuman Creator, Unreal Engine is gaining momentum as the world’s best commercially available game development engine solution. Unreal Engine was already cutting edge, but this is something else.
Here’s what Capturing Reality Co-founder Michal Jancosek, PhD had to say about Capturing Reality:
Our mission at Capturing Reality is to give our customers the most powerful and easy-to-use photogrammetry solution on the market, so they have the freedom to focus on their business,”
Martin Bujnak, PhD., co-founder of Capturing Reality drove the point home when he addressed the synergy between Epic and Capture’s goals:
Epic is clearly aligned with this mission and has a proven track record of taking existing technologies and making them more accessible to developers across industries. We look forward to partnering with their team to accelerate adoption of our technology and moving the photogrammetry industry forward together,”
As mentioned before, Unreal Engine is stacking up on technologies. Seeing as how Unreal Engine gave us some amazing games during the years, looking forward to future projects developed within its ecosystem makes sense. Now especially. How about you? Are you looking forward to future Unreal Engine titles? Are you developing games yourself? Let us know in the comments below.
