Ariana Grande’s boyfriend, Ethan Slater, is officially divorced from Lilly Jay. According to TMZ, the pair finalized their split on Thursday, Sept. 12, after five years of marriage. Despite being high school sweethearts and sharing a child with Jay, it seems Slater is in good spirits amid news of his divorce. After it was finalized, the Broadway star took to Instagram to give Grande a shoutout.
Ethan Slater Publicly Supports Ariana Grande Ahead of “Wicked” Movie Premiere
Recently, Slater showed his girlfriend some love by reposting a new Wicked teaser featuring her on his Instagram Story. “Can’t wait for everyone to meet Galinda,” he wrote, referring to Grande’s character in the film. It marked one of the only times the actor has mentioned the singer on social media.
Although Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have been going strong for over a year, the couple has kept their romance mostly under the radar. The secrecy surrounding their relationship could be a result of the drama that happened last summer.
In July 2023, news broke that Grande and her husband Dalton Gomez had separated after two years of marriage. Days later, reports came out that Grande was dating Slater, who had also recently split from his wife Lilly Jay. Since Grande and Slater had met on the set of Wicked months prior, fans speculated they had both cheated on their partners with each other. However, this was never confirmed.
Since then, the two have done their best to move on from the drama by focusing on promoting Wicked. The film, which was directed by Jon M. Chu, is being released in two parts. The first installment will premiere on Friday, Nov. 22, while the second film will hit theaters the following November.
