Jumping off her breakout role in Euphoria, Barbie Ferreira joins the upcoming Amazon psychological thriller, House of Spoils, which was reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The film will also star Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story). It will be co-directed and co-written by Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy, who worked together on The Stand and Blow the Man Down. The film from Prime Video and Blumhouse Television will begin production in the fall.
House of Spoils will see the Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira be a sous chef to her co-star, who will play the owner of a restaurant. The Hamilton alum has a farm-to-table restaurant in a remote location. She faces troubles in the kitchen, her investor, self-doubt, and the spirit of the previous owner, who threatens to ruin her dream of running the restaurant. For the sous chef, it is unknown how she will play into the plot, but she is described as being hopeful but demeaning.
Euphoria breakout star Barbie Ferreira joins Amazon thriller House of Spoils
House of Spoils continues the distance between Barbie Ferreira and Euphoria since she left her role as Kat Hernandez after two seasons with an announcement on her Instagram story last week. Her feature-length debut was the HBO Max comedy Unpregnant with Haley Lu Richardson (Split) and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad). She also had a minor role in Jordan Peele’s latest horror film, Nope. Outside of the two HBO Max projects, most of her other work has consisted of smaller roles like in The Afterparty and Robot Chicken.
Jason Blum, Alex Scharfman, Lucas Joaquin, Drew Houpt, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath will produce the psychological thriller. Chris McCumber and Jeremy Gold will serve as executive producers. The film has no release date, but it will premiere in more than 240 countries and territories.
