From The Full Monty to Flicka, streamers would say goodbye to a handful of shows on Hulu come September 2023. The platform, established in 2007, offers a selection of some of the best shows on TV, much like its contenders. While Hulu has strived over the years to live up to its promise of presenting subscribers with a vast library of the best movies and TV shows, ultimately offering the best streaming experience, sometimes, some factors come off as a necessary evil for its smooth-running. Cutting off some shows is one of them.

Shows Expiring on Hulu in September 2023

A post shared by Shadowhunters (@shadowhunterstv)

As the month of September drew nearer, some fans came to the heartbreaking realization that the days of some of their favorite shows were numbered. Many of these Hulu shows displayed countdowns to their expiration dates, keeping viewers on their toes. When Hulu finally unveiled its list of movies and shows leaving in September 2023, some of these projects were missing from that list.

For Instance, Hulu subscribers received a shocker when the viewer-favorite show, Shadowhunters displayed a countdown on Monday, August 28, 2023, suggesting it would expire in 13 days. Shadowhunters follows a Brooklyn teenage girl Clary Fray who discovers her familial ties to a line of Shadowhunters sworn to protect the world from demons. The discovery disrupted her ordinary life living in Brooklyn with her mom, shooting her into the throes of demon-hunting, mostly dangerous adventures.

Going by the 13-day countdown, Shadowhunters is expected to leave Hulu on September 9, 2023. However, the show did not appear in the list of shows leaving Hulu in September 2023 in the platform’s official announcement. Thankfully, the confusing situation was averted when the countdown banner was taken down. Hopefully, reversing the expiration warning is a sign the streamer had a change of mind.

Bones, Home Improvement, Good Behavior, and Will Trent May Leave Hulu

A similar mixup happened with Bones which follows forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperence Brennan and boastful FBI special agent Seely Booth’s crime-solving escapades. The TV show speculatively had until September 10, 2023, to expire following a misleading countdown. However, a Hulu spokesperson confirmed to Decider that the show would not leave the platform in September, or anytime soon. Per the representative, the platform was already working to fix the hitch. Sure enough, the expiration warning was taken down before the day ran out.

Other TV shows in this category on Hulu include Home Improvement (September 9), Good Behaviour (September 15), and Will Trent (September 18). While there are several pointers and speculations suggesting these shows would leave Hulu in September, the platform has yet to make any official announcement in that light. Looks like there’s just one way to find out.
