Alan Wake 2 Trailer and All Details
Release Date and Platforms
Alan Wake 2 is set to release on October 17, 2023, and will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC (via the Epic Games Store). Remedy has explicitly stated that there are no plans to develop PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch versions. Furthermore, the game will be a digital-only release to ensure a more affordable price.
The release date announcement was made in May 2023 during the State of Play event, following a year-and-a-half period of silence from Remedy. Initially, fans expected to hear more in the summer of 2022, but in May 2022, Remedy provided an update stating that more time was needed before other reveals.
Story and Gameplay
According to the Alan Wake 2 SGF trailer, players will control not only Alan Wake but also FBI agent Saga Anderson, who is investigating a series of ritualistic murders in Bright Falls, the original game’s setting. Saga’s investigation begins to intertwine with the events surrounding Alan’s disappearance. It suggests that Alan shapes her investigation through his reality-altering abilities from within the Dark Place.
The gameplay in the game deviates significantly from the original. After spending 13 years trapped in the Dark Place, Alan’s experiences have led Remedy Games to embrace psychological horror for this highly anticipated sequel fully.
That is all Remedy and Summer Game Fest were willing to share. Thankfully, we don’t have too long to wait to see what Bright Falls has in store for us.
