Raids have been a popular part of Pokemon GO since the game launched, but it looks like Niantic is finally laying EX Raids to rest with the removal of EX Passes (aka EX Tickets). These coveted passes allowed players to participate in rare EX Raids, giving Trainers a chance to snag some of the rarest Pokemon in the game, including Mewtwo, Deoxys, and Regigigas. The chances of running into these Pokemon outside EX Raids are slim to none. Only time will tell how Pokemon GO will change now that these prized items have been removed from the game.
Pokemon Go EX Raid Pass Removal
Data miners have revealed the apparent complete removal of EX Raid Tickets from Pokemon GO, despite the lack of official announcements from the developer. EX Raids haven’t been a major part of the game since 2020, but the existence of EX Tickets at least let players hope that this feature might live on. It appears that hope can finally be laid to rest. Players could once win EX Tickets by claiming victory in active raid battles at EX Gyms, but with the Tickets’ removal, it looks like that type of Raid is gone for good.
Players eager to take part in some of Pokemon GO‘s toughest battles can still take part in regular Raids, of course. The bigger question is how the game will handle rare Pokemon like Mewtwo and Regigigas going forward. Will the devs add a new kind of Raid? Or perhaps they’ll introduce a new way to capture these and other popular Pokemon as they did with Zygarde Cells. Because EX Raids were invitation-only, many players felt a true sense of accomplishment when they got to participate. EX Raids brought real excitement to the game. Hopefully, Niantic has a Master Ball to capture it again.
Pokemon GO is available for iOS and Android.
