Marvel is promising more violent Venoms in the preview for this summer’s Extreme Venomverse #3. Part of the publisher’s “Summer of Symbiotes” event, Extreme Venomverse is a five-issue limited series. It features stories from some of the industry’s best creators. In the same vein as last year’s Edge of Spider-Verse series, the issues offer some shocking moments and some never-before-seen Venoms.
Previewing Extreme Venomverse #3
The third issue of this Venom series doesn’t release until later this June. However, Marvel is giving fans a tease of what to expect in the issue. First up, writer Taran Killam and artist Rod Reis team up for a trip to the Old West. Here, they introduce readers to a new Madame Venom. This femme-fatale can take on the rowdiest of outlaws. Next, Jed MacKay and Danny Earls are set to bring a new prehistoric and primal version of Venom to the Marvel Universe.
Meanwhile, Venom Spaceknight is back! However, it is not looking good for the galaxy-faring Venom and as we know, not every Venom is leaving this series alive. Finally, Ty Templeton returns for another round of Daily Bugle funnies with a symbiotic twist!
A Summer of Symbiotes
The Extreme Venomverse anthology series is part of the “Summer of Symbiotes”. This is Marvel’s season-long celebration to honor Venom’s 35th anniversary within the Marvel Universe. It all kicks off in the debut issue on May 10 where Eddie Brock takes on the role of Spider-Man, we get a deeper look at the Brock family, and Venom gets reimagined as a Samurai.
Unfortunately, this limited series has an explosive, and deadly, destination in mind. This means that not every version of Venom is making it out alive. Still, it is fun to see the various Venoms that inhabit the multiverse and see some of Marvel’s iconic superheroes take on the role of symbiote from time to time.
