Rust‘s Hardcore Mode is sadly being retired. Unfortunately, this sad news from Facepunch Studios Producer Alistair McFarlane was shared via Twitter. Rust is a trendy game, but why was the Hardcore Mode removed? There could be more than one reason for this; maybe it’s too hard compared to normal Rust, and you have to know more survival tips; maybe it’s not fun, or maybe they advertised it wrong.
Why Is Facepunch Removing Hardcore Mode From Rust?
Alistair McFarlane has just shared this sad news on his X account. I’ve never played Rust Hardcore Mode because I forgot it was in the game, and that’s because there are very few Hardcore Rust servers. Also, playing on Hardcore servers where no one was playing didn’t seem appealing when you could play on freshly Wiped servers. This is what he had to say about the official hardcore servers being removed in the coming weeks.
Alistair said the remaining official Hardcore Mode servers will be shut down on December 7. He said that it was an interesting mod but that they missed the mark and still collected a lot of community feedback.
Rust Hardcore Mode was exactly what Rust should have been if you ask me, but players didn’t recognize its value. No team UI, no safe zones, no crawling, and no maps, it’s a unique experience.
If this mode was called Legacy Rust, for example, instead of Hardcore, it would attract many more players and wouldn’t have to be removed from the game because many features in Hardcore Mode are reminiscent of the old Rust.
