This article is over 10 years old and may contain outdated information.

Upon the reveal of Fallout 4, we were surprised with the information that over a 1000 names were recorded into the dialogue and to be used by your handy robot butler Codsworth. Originally stated that they would be the most popular names for both boys and girls, some on the list may surprise you. So your eyes don’t completely glaze over while scouring through the names on this page, you can go to this link and look through them all yourself. Some of the names are normal and fairly straight forward, others are completely out there. Either way it’s clear Fallout 4 is already making character creation a far more taxing and decision-intensive matter.  Maybe in a week or so I will finish designing my character and play the actual game…maybe…

Find your name? If not you will only be addressed as Sir or Madam if one of the recorded names was not chosen. While most are average I have to give a shout out to the Mad Max names they decided to throw in, specifically: Furiosa, Imperator, Humongous, Toecutter, and Rockatansky. While having the names for Mad Max makes a lot of sense, there are a lot more pop culture references throughout. Some of the personal favorites include KalEl (Superman’s real name), Katniss (The Hunger Games), Neo (The Matrix), Orgasmo (Orgasmo), Ripley (Alien), and Tallahassee (Zombieland).

There are others that are far more explicit such as Fuckface and just a plain old Fuck. We can also channel our inner pre-teen and giggle while our character is called “Sir Boobie” by a British robot. I have to admit it was surprising to see so many references to other media content, but it really does fit with the zany nature of Fallout 4. I do wish Immortan Joe was a recorded name, but after going through this list it makes me want to go back to just pick out a better name.  Fallout 4‘s name list may have more pop culture references than some video games have in their entirety!

What do you think of the Fallout 4 list? Which name is your favorite? Anyone you wish was added in? Sound of below!
