If you think pest control is a dirty job, wait until the pests are the size of dogs. The apocalypse didn’t do the world’s bug population any favors. Some of these wasteland warriors even give the bugs in Grounded a run for their money. With Appalachia’s insect infestation out of control, it’s up to you to clean up Dolly Sods. Doing so will help you impress the Pioneer Scouts, and while that might not earn you a merit badge, it can still get you some nice rewards. Here’s how to complete the Control Pests quest at Dolly Sods in Fallout 76.

While keeping an eye out for Garden Gnomes in the Mire, you’ll eventually come across Pioneer Scouts Campground and Dolly Sods Wilderness. If you haven’t stumbled across it already, you can find it west of the Thunder Mountain Power Plant, on the eastern side of the map. Head inside the ruined cabin there, and you’ll find Scout Leader Treadly, the Mr. Handy Robot. Treadly will give you a quest to clear out Dolly Sods and demonstrate your bravery to the scouts. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Head to the five marked areas on your map
  • Kill the insects you find there and loot their bodies
  • Collect Bloatfly Gland
  • Collect Bloodbug Proboscis
  • Collect Roadroach Meat
  • Collect Stingwing Barb
  • Collect Tick Blood Sac

Once you’ve collected the last bug part, head back to Scout Leader Treadly at Dolly Sods. After finishing your conversation with the bot, you’ll get a notification that you’ve completed the quest. Those creepy crawlers might’ve put up a fight, but who needs a bug zapper when you have a rifle and explosives?

Stings and Things

If you’ve cleared out the bugs and collected the parts you need but can’t complete the quest, double-check if the “Stings and Things” quest is active. Only by completing the “Stings and Things” quest can you complete Control Pests at Dolly Sods and rid Fallout 76 of its bug infestation. If the quest isn’t active, all the roach meat in the world won’t help you impress Scout Leader Treadly. Get on it, scout!

Fallout 76 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
