Simply aghast

Snallygasters might be the most hideous creatures in Fallout 76, which makes sense considering they’re a failed experiment. The victims of the Forced Evolutionary Virus use toxic spit and razor claws to tear apart their foes, and as if that weren’t enough, they dwell in some of the most toxic and irradiated areas. Don’t let their sci-fi horror backstory stop you from finding them, however. Vault Dwellers need to kill several Snallygasters for one of Bethesda‘s Daily Challenges. At least you’ll earn 250 S.C.O.R.E. as a reward for dispatching this mutant menace. Here’s where you can find a Snallygaster in Fallout 76.

There are a few guaranteed Snallygaster spawns in Fallout 76. One is Toxic Larry’s Meat ‘n Go (located east of Wendigo Cave and West of Berkeley Springs). Another is the Charleston Capitol Building (north of the Mount Blair workshop). In case someone’s already cleared out those spots, however, here’s a list of everywhere you can find a Snallygaster:

  • Charleston
  • Federal Disposal Field HZ-21
  • Flooded Trainyard
  • Hemlock Holes
  • Kiddie Corner Cabins
  • Pylon V-13
  • Toxic Larry’s Meat ‘n Go
  • Treetops

Tracking down a Snallygaster shouldn’t be much harder than finding Blood Eagles, thanks to plentiful spawn locations. You should be able to complete the “Kill a Snallygaster 0/3” Daily Challenge with a single trip to Toxic Larry’s. If another Wastelander beat you to it, however, you have two options: server-hop or venture farther afield. Keep in mind that Snallygasters don’t spawn within the perimeter of the Charleston Capitol Building but instead spawn in the ruins between the Capitol Building and the Hornwright Industrial Headquarters. Maybe they consider spitting acid on people their civic duty.

Snallygaster Hunting Tips

If you’re max level and rocking Power Armor, the irradiated hellscape of Appalachia might hold no fear for you. For everyone else, a Snallygaster can still be a nasty threat in Fallout 76. Though lethal, their toxic spit doesn’t have incredible range or tracking. Take advantage of that limitation by claiming the high ground or sniping at them from afar. Getting mobbed by Snallygasters in close-quarters often ends with a reset back at C.A.M.P, so pretend Preston Garvey’s watching, and do your best.

Fallout 76 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
