Ever since Warzone 2, fans have been asking for the return of their beloved Marksman Rifle, the Kar98k. This gun was one of the most favorite weapons in Warzone 1, due to its high mobility and the one-shot factor. And now after 3 years, we’ve got some fun going on in Warzone with the return of this weapon in MW3 Season 4. However, it seems like the fun isn’t going to last long as Sledgehammer Games is about to crush the Kar98k with a big nerf in MW3.
The story starts with a Reddit user called Ok_Target_7084, posting a discussion about nerfing the Kar98k Marksman Rifle. The user calls it “the best shotgun” due to its overpowering stats, and that’s how he gets a reply from the developers.
A comment by Sledgehammer Games addresses the discussion topic by stating that a balancing update for Kar98k is on its way, AKA a nerf for the weapon. Now one thing that’s got us worried is whether this comment applies to Warzone as well.
The post and the comment are on the Modern Warfare 3 Reddit community, and fewer people have been asking for a Warzone nerf for the Kar98k. Some of the comments like “buff the other weapons instead” are opposing this discussion, but the decision is made and developers are going to “balance” the Kar98k in Call of Duty: MW3 in Season 4 Reloaded.
This is while a post by Warzone Meta over at X has compared the two versions of Kar98k from MW 2019 and MW3, and turns out the new version is way stronger. The unbalancing factors are the longer damage range, and the weapon being able to two-shot the opponent at almost any range while hit at the upper body.
So it’s assumed that the Kar98k nerf would be for lowering the range in both the MW3 and Warzone, while the two-shot to the upper body will switch over to 3 shots just like we had it in Warzone 1.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 4 Reloaded starts on June 26, 2024, according to the S4 Battle Pass.
