Official Star Wars channels have released the trailer for the third and final season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Episodes of the final season will begin to drop on Disney Plus on February 21, 2024, beginning with a three-episode premiere. As the show is a spin-off of The Clone Wars, it’s only fitting that some characters popularized from that show appear in its final season, but nobody was expecting to see Asajj Ventress, the canonically dead former Sith assassin. The other members of the Bad Batch are there as well, as they’ll be attempting to rescue Omega from her imprisonment.
Of course, we need to talk more about Asajj Ventress, as at that point in the Star Wars timeline she is supposed to be dead. Brad Rau, supervising director and one of the executive producers of The Bad Batch told StarWars.com, “We don’t want to spoil anything, but want fans to know that any new storytelling with Ventress will align with the events of Star Wars: Dark Disciple.” Ventress was killed during the events of Dark Disciple, the novel written by Christie Golden. The novel takes place before the events of The Bad Batch, so it’s unclear how the character will return.
The show could be using her character in a flashback, but it couldn’t be too far back because she is using the yellow lightsaber that she acquired in Dark Disciple. She is a Dathomirian Nightsister, so maybe there’s some magic involved in her revival. Her partner in Dark Disciple, Jedi Quinlan Vos, was referenced in Obi-Wan Kenobi. So, there might be a larger plan for those characters. We’ll find out about Ventress and the rest of the Bad Batch when the final season premieres on Disney Plus on February 21, 2024.
