News reports revealing Will Smith‘s upcoming surprise appearance at the 2025 Grammys on Sunday night have left fans furious. It has been three years since Smith shocked Oscar viewers by slapping host Chris Rock, and the idea of him taking the stage has fans in a complete uproar.
According to the Daily Mail, Will Smith’s name appears on the list of presenters for the 2025 Grammys, which was released on Friday ahead of the ceremony at LA’s Crypto.com arena.
Smith is scheduled to introduce a musical tribute to legend Quincy Jones, who was executive producer on Smith’s breakout show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
This news is not going over well with fans. The comment section blew up with fans expressing their distaste over the news, with many even stating they no longer plan to watch the Sunday evening award show.
Will popularity and career took a massive hit in 2022 following the 2022 Oscars. Comedian Chris Rock was the host of the 94th Oscars Awards show. Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith‘s bald head amid her battle with alopecia, which sent Will into a rage.
An upset Will then made his way to the stage and slapped Chris Rock across the face while warning him in an angry voice, saying, ‘Keep my wife’s name out of your f ‘ing mouth.’
Fans Want Will Smith Banned From Grammys
The Chris Rock slap immediately went viral, and fans couldn’t believe Will Smith had attacked Rock on live television. Later in the evening, Smith won the Oscar for Best Actor for King Richard. The actor burst into tears during his acceptance speech but never apologized or commented on his earlier interaction with Chris Rock.
Smith’s Grammy appearance is a huge deal for the fallen actor, who, according to TMZ, has not been on stage this big since the slap incident. The Grammys are placing a lot of faith in Will. It is unknown if Smith will address the Oscar drama or skim past mentioning it.
While the Grammy’s seemingly forgives Smith’s unthinkable past behavior, fans are unwilling to let it go.
