Any hopes of a long-term collaboration between Adidas and Kanye West may have just gone down the drain. Recently, the rapper took to social media to call out the sportswear brand. In the now-viral video, Kanye West exposes Adidas for selling fake Yeezys without his permission and unfairly suing him over business differences. The new controversy came only a few weeks after Ye posted a snap of him and Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden hinting at a collaboration. Amid Ye’s revelation, fans expressed shock and supported the Yeezy mogul.
Adidas and Kanye West Embroiled in Another Controversy
About two weeks ago, Ye made the headlines after he shared a photo of himself and Gulden posing together and wearing huge smiles. Many believed the feud between Adidas and Kanye West had finally ended. This was after the rapper revealed in the caption that he made a distribution offer to the company. Unfortunately, Ye’s feud with Adidas is far from over, as he recently called for fans to boycott the sportswear brand. Taking to Instagram on Monday, Kanye West exposes Adidas, accusing them of “trying to rape your favorite artist.” In the video, Ye claimed the company was selling fake Yeezys.
“Adidas is selling fake Yeezys and not paying me and suing me at the same time,” Ye captioned the post.
In the clip, the controversial rapper exclaimed that Adidas wasn’t only putting out fake colorways but was also suing him for $250 million. He also said they weren’t paying him for the shoes they were selling, which had his name on them. In another post, Kanye West shared a picture of the fake Yeezy sneakers, urging fans who loved him not to buy them.
“Anybody who loves Ye would not buy these fake Yeezys. I never made these color ways I’m not getting paid off them and Adidas is suing me,” he wrote per the Daily Mail.
Fans Show Support for Kanye West
Fans have since taken to the comments section of Kanye West’s post to support the 46-year-old.
“Love or hate Ye… he’s right on this. They shouldn’t still be making money on his name,” a fan wrote.
Another supportive follower commented:
“I ain’t buying s**t from Adidas ever again.”
A third fan shared:
“Tiger left Nike, Jordan paved the way. Why is Adidas playing dirty. That boyfriend who will rather kill you than letting you go find another partner.”
A fourth fan with similar thoughts noted:
“Naa man, these guys have no shame. You fired the guy, why are you still using his name to make sales?”
Another fan quipped:
“It’s already been three years since we bought any more Adidas. Don’t worry Ye.”
It is unclear what the future holds for Adidas and Kanye West, but from all indications, the legal battle won’t be easy.
