On the other side of the Mythril Mine is Junon, and the surrounding area is brimming with new quests to check out. Not to mention a new type of chocobo to wrangle and ride. The region has five side quests to complete, though most won’t be available until after you make a pitstop at Under Junon. Considering the materia you can earn from the side quests in the Junon Region, it’s definitely worth completing them as soon as possible in FF7 Rebirth.
All Junon Region Side Quests in FF7 Rebirth
To access every side quest in the Junon region, you’ll have to make a beeline for Under Junon during the main quest. Once there, defeat the Terror of the Deep. Afterwards, you can pick up these quests from both NPCs and from the notice board in Under Junon.
Stuck in a Rut
The first mission you should complete is Stuck in a Rut. Just outside Junon, you’ll find Gabe’s Ranch. His business isn’t doing well and will surely go under if his carriage isn’t repaired. Not only will you need to retrieve Gabe’s escaped chocobo, Belle, you’ll need to have Wainwright build the necessary parts for the carriage.
- Speak to Gabe, the old man at Gabe’s Ranch, just outside Junon.
- Capture Belle, the black mountain-climbing chocobo west of Gabe’s Ranch.
- Climb the mountain northwest of Gabe’s Ranch to reach Wainwright’s Hut.
- Collect three driftwood by tracking it with Wainwright’s list and your chocobo.
- Return to Wainwright for the parts, then to Gabe.
Once Gabe has the parts he needs, the carriage will be fixed, which you can use to fast travel between regions. However, at this point, only the Grasslands are available nor is it free. To fast travel, you’ll need to hand over 300 Gil.
When Words Won’t Do
Rhonda’s questionable tactics aside, she’s a good mother. She wants to send some of the money from the bounty on your head to her son. Rather than make the delivery yourself, Rhonda wants her dog, Salmon, to be the courier. Your job will be to ensure Salmon makes it to the Crow’s Nest in one piece.
It is a long way to the Crow’s Nest from Under Junon—on the opposite side of the Junon region, in fact. Along the way, you’ll need to defeat any and all fiends Salmon encounters. Bring all types of offensive magic materia: Ice, Fire, Lightning, Wind, and don’t be afraid to use your Limit Breaks. Salmon cannot be healed, so it’s best to dispatch the fiends as quickly as possible.
Calling All Frogs
If you poke around the docks in Under Junon, you’ll come across an area full of pink gas, along with a group of frogs. As it turns out, they’re kids and they want you to play a game of jumpfrog. Before you’re given the opportunity, monsters show up to crash the party.
Now, the catch is you have to defeat the fiends as a frog. Unfortunately, your basic attacks are incredibly weak, but you do gain some other helpful abilities. If you press triangle, you’ll use Bubble Breath, which heals you, and Leapfrog, which is a powerful special ability.
The best strategy is to repeatedly use Leapfrog, so use your basic attacks strictly for filling your ATB. Keep your health top off by using Bubble Breath!
The Hardest Sell
The only way to complete The Hardest Sell in the Junon region is to first complete the side quests When Words Won’t Do and Stuck in a Rut in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Afterwards, you can enter the Crow’s Nest and speak with Toby. He’ll want you to investigate the Abandoned Lighthouse, which was once a base of operations for the Crow’s Nest.
- Speak to Toby at Crow’s Nest.
- Venture to the Abandoned Lighthouse, located south of Crow’s Nest. This is where you’ll need the help of your chocobo.
- Defeat the waves of Flans, Ignilisks, and White Mousse.
While the Flans and Ignilisks are pretty easy to defeat, being weak to fire and ice, respectively, the White Mousse will give you the most trouble. They’re essentially just larger Flans, but rather than being weak to ice, they’re weak to all forms of elemental magic.
However, as soon as you cast a magic spell on White Mousse, they’ll become resistant to that element. Have each of your party members equipped with a different element and simply take turns using their spells and the White Mousse will go down in no time.
Dreaming of Blue Skies
Like before, if you haven’t completed the side quests When Words Won’t Do and Stuck in a Rut side quests, Dreaming of Blue Skies will be locked off. You’ll find the quest giver, Colin, at the top of Condor Hill, overlooking the Crow’s Nest. His request is to feed the great big condor.
- Head to the marked location on your map to find a cow.
- Before you can capture the cow, a dragon will swoop in and steal it.
- Hop onto your chocobo to track its scent and defeat the dragon.
- Choose one of three types of food: Bovine Meat, Monster Flesh, or Peculiar Greens.
- Return to Colin on Condor Hill.
Truthfully, it doesn’t matter what kind of food you feed the condor. The quest rewards will be the same, regardless. What it does alter is how well the picture with the condor turns out. If that matters to you, choose the Bovine Meat.
