Originally featured in Final Fantasy VI, the Falcon was an airship that served as a pivotal part of navigating the World of Ruin and taking on Kefka as you fought to liberate a world that was already destroyed. In Final Fantasy XIV, the Falcon serves a little less a vital role as a personal vanity mount that players can cruise around in that looks like a faithful homage to the incredible airship of times passed.
How to Get the Falcon Mount in Final Fantasy XIV
It used to be that the Falcon mount was an event-specific mount that you could only get if you attained certain veteran status – having your account active for a certain amount of time – during a certain period of time. Still, the mount has steadily been making returns through the yearly Moogle Treasure Trove events. The upcoming Hunt for Esoterics event is no different, offering rewards like the Falcon mount for your efforts in selected Duties.
The items you’ll be looking to get will be Irregular Tomestones of Esoterics, and the easiest way to get them should already be in your daily routine for Duty Roulettes anyhow: The Praetorium, which gives you 10 Irregular Esoterics. You’ll need 50 of them in order to get the item you need for the mount, the Falcon Ignition Key. You’ll be redeeming them with the Itinerant Moogle in either Ul’dah, The Steps of Nald (9.6, 9.1), New Gridania (12.4, 12.1), or Limsa Lomina Lower Decks (9.4, 11.6), located close to the point where you teleport in.
The Moogle Treasure Trove: Hunt for Esoterics event starts on March 15th, 2021, at 1:00 AM PDT and lasts until maintenance for patch 5.5 starts. Most of the Duties you’ll be running in Duty Roulettes that are around level 50 and level 60. Still, if you’re looking to farm the Tomestomes specifically, they’ll be marked on your Duty Finder with an icon of a little Moogle’s head, and the amount you’ll get from each will be noted in the description.
