This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

One of the best role-playing games of last year was from Square Enix’s very own Final Fantasy series. With brand new gameplay and graphical styles, Final Fantasy 7 Remake was a great rebuild of the original. With so much speculation over the future of the series, fans have been wondering about some specific content threads. While some worry that the remake might not detail more important storylines, it’s finally time to understand more about FF7R.

Square is returning to the game by including some new quality of life additions and DLC side story. With the second part well on its way to full development alongside Final Fantasy 16, Square still wants to tie fans over with a little teaser. Showcased at the new State of Play for February 2021 was a brand new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade featuring a next-gen PS5 upgrade.

The new side story is titled Integrate as an analogous Final Fantasy 7 Remake story. This would in turn set up the game for its next part and some new characters as well. The game carries over to PS5 free of charge allowing for smoother gameplay and upgraded graphical fidelity. The 60 frames per second gameplay that was revealed does emphasize the combat. The new story includes a brand new storyline featuring 2 characters from Wutai.

With brand new magical skills and abilities, the updated combat system teases some of the new skills and spells for Yuffie and Sonon. It’s currently unknown if the new content will be on the PS4, but seeing that it is a smaller addition it seems likely. Also undisclosed were the plans for future releases on the title. With Xbox teasing a game pass release and many PC fans eagerly awaiting a Steam release, Square is still holding some details for themselves. The new upgraded edition releases on June 10, just in time for new summer gaming news.
