If you’ve been keeping track of all DLC waves in Fire Emblem Engage, you might’ve noticed something during the third wave. If you played Veronica’s paralogue, there was a new class that enemies were using. This started to raise some eyebrows and speculations as players thought it might become playable. All those things were correct. With the trailer of the new DLC wave of the game, we also got confirmation about the Mage Cannoneer class coming to this title. This is a class that lets go of the “glass cannon” concept that mages are known for. This time around, you’ll be getting a big cannon and a shield to support your team. Here we’ll tell you how to unlock the Mage Cannoneer class in Fire Emblem Engage.
How to unlock the Mage Cannoneer class in Fire Emblem Engage
Before you try to unlock it, you need to know that it is locked behind some content. As you know, the fourth wave is bringing the new Fell Xenologue that adds an original story to the game. In it, you’ll be able to fight some of your allies in a different timeline and meet new characters to add to your roster. However, some want the new classes instead of all the other content. Well, here’s how to unlock the new Mage Cannoneer class in Fire Emblem Engage:
- Finish Chapter 6 of the main story
- Head to the Somniel and interact with the Ancient Well after unlocking it
- Finish all Fell Xenologue missions
- Use the Mage Canon item to unlock the class

If you’ve already done these steps, you’ll be able to play as the new Mage Cannoneer class. This class is all about doing damage at long range while also being able to take some hits. If you use the item for the class on a character that isn’t that good, don’t worry, you’ll be able to get more items for the class in the shop. Yet, remember that you need to finish the Fell Xenologue to access the new classes and assign them to your units. While the class has the word “Mage” in its name, don’t let that fool you. It seems that this class does more physical damage, so keep that in mind when building your units. Once you do, you’ll be free to try it out during Skirmishes or the rest of the main story. So, now that you know how to unlock the new Mage Cannoneer class, go ahead and try it in all the content that Fire Emblem Engage has.
