Wave 3 is here in Fire Emblem Engage, and with this DLC update comes some exciting features. We see familiar characters return and something new: the Ancient Well. This is an excellent way to swap out some items you don’t want in exchange for new ones. But just how does it all work? We’ll guide you through how to use the Ancient Well and nab some new gear in Fire Emblem Engage.

How to Use the Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage

How to Use the Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage

The Ancient Well is a new feature courtesy of the latest 1.3.0 update. With this feature, you can drop unwanted items and weapons in the Well in exchange for other items. You can’t drop certain weapons, however. When you get to the Well, you will see exactly what you can do away with in your inventory.

Before you can use the Ancient Well, you must gain access to it first in Fire Emblem Engage. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Reach Chapter 7 in the main story.
  2. Go to The Somniel’s Armory and speak to Durthon.
  3. Go to the Well in the Training Yard (near the Wyvern Ride minigame) to retrieve his lost weapon.
  4. After accessing the Well, return to Durthon to conclude his task.

When you first visit the Ancient Well for Durthon, you won’t get his requested Fire Emblem Engage weapon. Instead, you will leave with a Revanche Axe and a Represailles Polearm. Durthon will remark that those aren’t his and tell you to keep them.

With that done, you have now unlocked the Ancient Well.

Now, we are free to use the Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage whenever you wish.

Head back to the Training Yard and interact with the Well. You can toss 5 items into the Well. Also, you are able to mix things up. Toss in 5 weapons, 5 consumables, or a mixture of them. As we mentioned, though, there are some items that you cannot drop inside the Well. For instance, you will not be able to toss your Legendary weapons inside.

When you do use the Ancient Well in Fire Emblem Engage, pay close attention to the Upgrade Chance gauge. If it fills up, you have a high chance of obtaining upgraded weapons. So, try to drop the max amount to improve your chances of walking away with something epic.

It’s randomized, so you are never really clear on what you will get. You might get a high-rated consumable or weapon. Additionally, there is a good chance you can walk away with a joke-like weapon shaped like food instead. You can still consume it for a health boost, though.

These new items aren’t granted right away, however. Once you use the Ancient Well, you must head out and fight in one Fire Emblem Engage battle. It could be something simple or major. Just battle and return to the Well. Your items will be waiting for you.

So, if you’re at Chapter 7 or beyond, get to the Well when you can to try it out for yourself.

Fire Emblem Engage is available on Nintendo Switch.
