The God of thunder and Prince of Asgard himself can’t seem to catch a break. Thor was first stranded on earth, then the fate of the world depended on him, and now he’ll be stranded in space. Thor: Ragnarok is the third outing for the hammer-wielding superhero and the first few images have dropped.
Thor: Ragnarok sees the Marvel hero stranded in space. Asgard is in turmoil and Thor has been marooned on a hostile planet of gladiators. Much to his surprise and probably the audiences’ The Hulk will be joining him on this planet as well. It’s up to them to travel across the galaxy and stop whatever evil is descended on Asgard.
The most notable thing is Thor‘s new haircut. The past few Marvel movies with him in it, he’s had long and lushes blonde hair. It’s suspected that when he’s thrown onto this gladiator planet, they’ll shave his head along with forcing him to fight. To the right of the picture, we see Valkyrie, the new female lead and the possible love interest played by Tessa Thompson. Natalie Portman has stated she will not be returning. To the left, we see Cate Blanchett has Hella, the powerful sorcerer, and antagonist of the film. At this time, it’s unknown what her motives will be but it’s safe to assume her and Loki will be up to no good.
It seems like Marvel is taking a cue from Guardians of the Galaxy and making this new Thor more light-hearted. The first two of his movies were more dramatic and heavy, but judging by the main title text alone, it’s going for a more campy and fun approach. Also in the cast, and effectively joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be Jeff Goldblum and… John Cena!?
