The move has stirred up another round of heated debate, but one veteran decided he wasn’t going to just sit back and talk about it. In a dramatic statement of defiance, he set fire to an American flag right in front of the White House in Washington DC.
Before striking the match, he shouted that no president in history had ever dared to make such a blatant attack on the First Amendment. Then, without hesitation, he burned the flag laid out at his feet for everyone to see. The protest didn’t last long. Secret Service quickly closed in, arresting him on the spot. Still, the veteran remained calm, addressing nearby civilians who were recording the event near the White House.
