With DC and Marvel about to pit their respective TV shows against each other once again, let’s take a look at one of DC’s strongest contenders; season 2 of the critically acclaimed ‘ The Flash’.

When we last saw Barry Allen, he was trying to save Central City from a black hole by running really fast. In all honesty, it would take a crisis of that size to get me to run at all.

But what does the future hold for The Flash? We’ve known since the season finale, that original/alternate reality Flash Jay Garrick will be showing up at some point. But why is he coming and what else will happen?

Digging into the trailer, we can see that Jay came to warn Barry about ‘Zoom’. For the uninitiated, in the comics, Zoom is an evil version of The Flash. He is notable for having killed Iris (at least until it was retconned). Also, if you pause the trailer towards the end, you can see Jay doubled over in agony. This suggests, amongst other things, that Jay will be doing more than just giving a warning and then leaving.

Meanwhile, we get our first glimpse at Patty Spivot, who will apparently be Barry’s love interest for this season. And apparently it’s a rule that if you are Barry Allen’s love interest, you have to be completely oblivious to how he feels about you.

Other points of interest include the return of General Eiling and our first glimpse of the ‘Flash signal’. Between this and the ‘we love The Flash’ signs, it’s clear that Central City has come to look up to Barry’s alter ego.

Of course, there are still unanswered questions. If the show’s version of Zoom is from another universe, why is he trying to kill Barry? Also, the previous seasons of Flash and Arrow crossed over a lot. Is that something we can expect to continue this season?
