Dogs really are our best friends. They’re loyal and always looking out for us. When a woman went missing in Florida, her husband was rightfully panicked about it. She went out for a walk with their dog and never came back and hours passed. When the dog turned up but the woman didn’t, fear set in. Luckily, this pup knew exactly what to do. In the end, he proved to be a true hero.

The video of the body cam footage taken in Destin, Florida was posted to r/MadeMeSmile. You can see an elderly man telling police that his 86-year-old wife went on a walk with their dog, Eeyore. He explained that she never takes more than 10 or 15 minutes on their walk. When she didn’t return, he got worried and called the police. When police go out to find them, they find the dog without its owner. The female officer says, “Hi, baby” and wanders up to Eeyore.

The officer asks Eeyore, who was wagging his tail excitedly, “Where’s your mama?” Right after she says this, the dog starts walking in a specific direction in front of a person’s house. It’s then that the officer finds the 86-year-old female owner, injured and unable to get up by herself. The officer and the woman were both shocked that the dog found its way back to her and possibly saved her life. The two call him a good boy and give him lots of love for his heroic actions. His tail is wagging adorably the entire time as he gets all the love he deserves.

According to an NBC News article, the dog is actually her grand-dog and belongs to her adult child. But just the fact that it led officers to the injured woman is amazing in itself and I hope he got all the treats for his actions. One commenter said on the Reddit post, “I’d argue that dogs are human’s greatest invention. I doubt we would have survived as a species without them. I wonder if they will help us explore the universe?” Another person stated, “Stories like this really show how amazing dogs can be, not just as companions but as real-life heroes.”
