It’s that time of the year when students of all kinds walk on the stage to have the most memorable moments of their youth. It’s just that one graduation ceremony in South Plantation High School, Florida, got a little too chaotic after one of the graduates performed a graduation backflip on stage with zero consideration for the person behind him; he ended up hammering the girl behind her with his shins and knocking her down.
As we mentioned, the incident happened at South Plantation High School, Florida, during high school commencement ceremonies between May 28 and June 3. The graduates were walking on stage, poised to grab their diplomas and shake hands with the school faculty, when a male student suddenly performed a backflip. His female batchmate was a little too close behind him, and he ended up kicking her head in, with full force, during the graduation backflip. Here’s the clip of the footage, and in multiple angles too.
According to one of the accounts commenting on the matter and related to the students, this accident shouldn’t have happened, but it appears the students got a little too excited and forgot the pacing.
“He did apologize but he did warn her before the name was called he was going to do a flip. Excitement happened too quickly … they had to sit next to each other after this,” says Instagram user Rebel_Chaos, transcript courtesy of Collin Rugg
Despite the force of the accidental kick, it initially appears the female student wasn’t seriously injured and was able to stand up and continue the ceremony. The two students were able to get their diplomas after the stunt, though they likely had to sit together awkwardly after grabbing their diplomas.
Most Memorable Graduation Ever?
As expected, there were some enraged comments online criticizing the male student for being a little too extra during the graduation instead of simply grabbing his diploma. The girl he pommeled will likely feel the blunt-force trauma later on with a tender and painful bump on her head or whichever part got hit.
However, some people were not as big of a buzzkill, stating that people only graduate from high school once and the behavior was expected, just not the outcome. It’s not exactly the first time a graduation ceremony got disrupted, as earlier in the year, a dad even ran away from the cops with his baby in his arms during his college graduation.
Both the male student and his female victim were lucky, of course, since she didn’t get seriously injured (at least for now). The what-ifs of the situation, however, have drawn some strong opinions.
“Wanted so badly to be remembered as cool. Instead will always be remembered as the one who fucked up a backflip and kicked someone in the head while walking the stage,” observed DoctorObservation
“I’m SO tired of people thinking graduation is all about then and taking the time to do gymnastics and dances on stage. Yes it’s your moment, but you’re sharing it with your classmates. It’s not all about you 🤦♀️,” rants Unlikely_Couple1590
“Are they graduating from WWE?” asks QuarantinoQueue
