It seems that those in Florida just can’t catch a break. After some hectic days involving gubernatorial candidates, which have not been received well by many, it seems that there’s another hot topic already, and it is about auto insurance. As you know, one recent reform was supposed to make things more accessible and give people bigger refunds. And while some of those things became true, to an extent, it seems the reform hasn’t helped everyone. Apparently, some people are now paying even more for auto insurance.
One viral comment on Reddit, which has already found its way to other outlets, mentions how one auto insurance customer has seen their prices go up to $400, and that’s after getting $330 back due to the refunds. They also mention that they have been with a particular auto insurance brand for several years. After comparing prices, it seems swapping to another company would be better because prices are much lower.
After the complaint, they started asking whether others in Florida have been experiencing this, and to many people’s surprise, it seems this is happening statewide. Some people have also thrown in some auto insurance company names, claiming that their rates have also allegedly increased. Some even say the more loyal you are, the higher the cost of insurance, which makes some wonder whether loyalty is rewarded at all.
Out of nowhere, this post became viral, and several Florida locals started sharing their auto insurance woes in the comments, with many now believing that staying with one company for many years might not be the best plan.
Florida Residents Believe Being Loyal to an Auto Insurance Company Is Counterproductive
One of the most common theories that Redditors threw around on the now-viral comment was about loyalty. Some mentioned they have been with one auto insurance company for a while, which is why these companies allegedly raise prices more.
“I worked for a major company, and at one point they were charging higher rates to people who’d been loyal, like yourself, because they figured people who’d been there many years were less likely to shop around. The rate hoppers were the people who got the best deals. That’s been in the last 15 years.“
“This is completely true. I’m with one company, and I actually got a good and honest agent on the phone when I called about my recent rate hike, who told me that if I cancel my current policy and then open a brand new one, then I will get a much better deal.“
Others, however, blamed the recent reform, saying it wasn’t as helpful as the government said it would be.
“The reform was a joke.”
In the end, several people in Florida are showing their anger, as more services keep getting more expensive for locals, which they believe isn’t good in this economy.
