A Florida man who says he voted for Donald Trump three times is going viral after sharing an emotional video in which he apologized for previously making fun of ICE arrests. He said his opinion changed after a late-night encounter with a Spanish-speaking couple whom he assumed were undocumented immigrants.
In the video, the man says he was in Dallas, Texas, for work when he got a flat tire at around 2 a.m. He realized he did not have a jack in his car and struggled to find help. He says a Spanish-speaking couple stopped to help him change the tire and refused to accept the money he offered them.
The experience, he says, made him rethink how he had treated immigrants. “What is it about politics that made me lose my humanity, that has made me be cruel, that has made me do videos laughing about ICE dragging people to the street?” he says in the video.
He also says he no longer considers himself a Christian, adding, “because how can you be so cruel to people who are different than you?” At the same time, he says he still supports border security and legal immigration but wants to “reevaluate both sides.”
The man ends the video by apologizing directly, saying, “I’m just so sorry. I don’t, I think I just don’t see people as people.”
He does not identify the couple or provide any evidence about their immigration status, and there has been no independent reporting to verify his account beyond the video itself.

The video drew mixed reactions online. Some people praised the Florida man for changing his views, while others questioned whether his apology was genuine.
One commenter wrote, “Now you’ve graduated to one step away from Stupid, now you’re just ignorant .. keep going, you can regain your humanity.” Another said, “They absolutely did it out of the kindness of their hearts but also with the hope that it would plant a seed. I’m glad to see that it did. Good on him for watering that seed.”
