A man in Florida was filmed allegedly stealing a Flock camera while draped in an American flag. In a video shared on Instagram, the man could be seen carrying a pole with what appeared to be a Flock camera attached to the top. He was draped in an American flag and appeared to be wearing a T-shirt featuring the flag as well. The man walked slowly while carrying the camera.

The video then showed two security guards walking toward the man as they appeared to speak to him from a distance. Their conversation could not be heard clearly because music had been added to the video. Some viewers assumed the guards were telling the man to stop, but that could not be confirmed from the footage. The man continued walking away as the guards slowly followed him. It is unclear whether they eventually caught up with him.

In another video posted by the same Instagram account, the man appeared to be in a different location while still holding what looked like a Flock camera. He claimed that he had “chopped it down,” although this claim has not been independently verified. “In the name of freedom,” he then said to the person filming him. A third video showed the man running around a parking lot while still carrying the pole with the camera. It is unclear whether he will face any legal consequences if the alleged theft is confirmed.

The incident comes amid growing opposition to Flock Safety cameras in parts of the United States, with critics raising concerns about privacy, surveillance, and how vehicle data collected by automated license plate readers could be accessed or used. Some communities have responded by rejecting or ending contracts with Flock, while other opponents have taken more direct action, with cameras reportedly being vandalized, damaged, stolen, or removed from their mounting poles.

If the allegations in the video are confirmed, the incident would represent another example of an opponent allegedly taking direct action against the technology rather than relying on legal or political efforts to challenge its use. Such actions can also carry potential criminal consequences, depending on the circumstances and applicable laws.

Viewers Praise Florida Man for Allegedly Stealing Flock Camera

The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers supported the Florida man over what he allegedly did to the Flock camera, with some praising his actions as a form of protest against the technology. “Good for him! Now get the rest!” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “FAIR! You wanna spy on us, take the cameras and place them directly across each Senator and congresswoman/men’s house and surveil them! See how they like it.”

More viewers continued praising the man and expressing support for his alleged actions against the Flock camera. “Love it! Time for the American people to take back control of their lives without being watched 24/7,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “First time Florida man ever got it right. If he’s got a GoFundMe for legal fees please post. He’s defending himself from violation of his rights vis a vis the Fourth Amendment.”

The video sparked a broader conversation about the opposition to Flock cameras. Some people viewed the technology as a form of surveillance that raises privacy concerns. It also led to debate over whether frustrated residents should take matters into their own hands by removing or damaging the cameras or instead pursue legal and political avenues to challenge their use.
