We often joke about the whole “Florida Man” term, but the truth is that Floridians give us reason to think this is the perfect term to describe someone doing unhinged or dangerous things that would only happen in this state. If you don’t believe us, well, someone recorded a driver in Florida, who was having some troubles after losing one of their wheels. Suddenly, the wheel flew off the car, leaving it with only three wheels. In any other state, the driver would have pulled over to check what had happened, but Florida Man had a different plan.
The clip shows a Nissa vehicle driving down a street in Florida, with the front left wheel looking loose, as if it were about to fall off. Lo and behold, it does after the driver keeps going, and the wheel just rolls down the street. Here, one would expect the one in the car to stop, but that never happens in the video. Instead, the driver keeps going, and the wheel just rolls in the opposite direction.
At first glance, this might look hilarious and in line with common occurrences in the state, albeit a bit milder than other situations we’ve observed. Yet, leaving the humor of this Florida man losing a wheel and letting it roll away from a car, this is actually a dangerous scenario for both the driver and those around. For starters, if the driver had gone faster, the wheel might have caused an accident. Also, the vehicle could have spiraled out of control, harming others. Fortunately, it seems that didn’t happen here, which is the silver lining.
Many Redditors quickly passed it off as normal and threw a few jokes at the driver’s actions and the whole event.
“Jesus take the wheel.” – OldOperaHouseMan via Reddit.
“Nissan with Florida plates. Yep…” – G-cuvier via Reddit.
Besides the fact that this happened in Florida, and passed it off as something normal, many also saw this as something in line with Nissan vehicles, which is a running joke among the driver community, as this brand tends to have certain malfunctions, such as the one you can observe in the above video.
In the end, it is unclear whether the driver eventually stopped to prevent the rim from getting damaged or just to check if the fugitive wheel had caused any chaos. Hopefully, nothing bad happened after the wheel decided to call it and roll toward greener pastures.
