Florida Named America’s 2nd Most Fun State, but Locals Aren’t Buying It: ‘Everything Is Fun If You’re a Tourist’

Fun for who?

Lately, Florida has appeared near the bottom of several state rankings, from quality of life to financial distress, making its latest placement among America’s most fun states something of a surprise. The Sunshine State has now been ranked the second most fun in the country, but not everyone is convinced. Many locals argue the “fun factor” mainly applies to tourists rather than the people who actually live there.

An article from News Channel 8 has been circulating around and found its way to Florida Times Daily, and it mentions how the state is, apparently, the second most fun in all of the US.

Although the ranking painted Florida in a positive light, many residents weren’t buying it. While the report praised the state’s nightlife, tourist attractions and entertainment options, locals argued those amenities are largely designed for tourists rather than everyday Floridians.

Although the ranking was intended as a positive for Florida, many residents strongly disagreed with its conclusions. Several argued that only those with money can truly enjoy everything the state has to offer, while others said the high number of tourists has driven up prices, making many attractions less accessible for locals.

Florida Locals Believe Only Tourists Get to Have Fun in the State

The hard-to-believe ranking raised several eyebrows among locals, with many even complaining that they don’t have the money or opportunity to enjoy any of the things that make Florida one of the “most fun” states in America.

“Everything is fun if you have the money to afford it.”

“Florida is fun if you’re a tourist.“

With California, Nevada, Illinois and New York also making the list, commenters inevitably began comparing the states. The discussion, however, quickly took an unexpected turn.

“Florida and Nevada have to be the biggest states where it’s more fun for tourists and not locals.“

Ultimately, it seems many believe that Florida certainly has its charm and a lot of fun things to experience. However, locals also mention that not everyone has the means to take advantage of them, as most of these attractions prioritize tourists first.
