A woman in Miami, Florida, underwent an unspecified procedure at a local hospital that required her to go under anesthesia. While in the recovery room, nurses could be seen attempting to transfer her to a chair. One of them, however, was deemed rude and accused of mistreating the barely conscious woman.
The woman in question, known only as honeyyamz4u (Honey), shared the post-anesthesia moment on TikTok. In the past, she has only shared selfies and photos online, albeit in a casual way and not intended as content creation. The clip attached above became her biggest one yet, garnering 254,200 views, 10,600 likes, and close to 2,200 comments.
The Florida woman was just waking up after going under anesthesia. She had just had a procedure, although Honey has yet to provide additional context about it. Two nurses could be seen changing her clothes, and the one to the right began telling her what to do, although she was barely conscious and had her eyes closed.
“Alright, open your eyes. You’re coming over here to the chair,” she said. The nurse then grabbed the woman’s head and straightened it, adding, “Hold your head up. Hold your head up.”
‘Leave Her Alone’
Honey, still confused, didn’t want to leave her bed.
“Alright, leave her alone. I’m not fighting her,” the nurse said, moments after Honey visibly and physically expressed her discomfort.
The nurse in question appeared to be willing to let her lie down for a bit, even putting up the bed barrier for a few seconds. Honey, however, once again sat down, while the other nurse told her she needed to walk toward the chair.
“You will sit in the chair because your stomach is gonna hurt. If you lie down, it’s gonna hurt. You have air in there. It’s gotta move,” the nurse on the right said.
Eventually, Honey was able to walk, while assisted, to the chair.
Social Media Reactions
The video sparked many responses online, with many viewers labeling the nurse on the right as rude. One said, “That white lady hated her.” Another one commented, “I hope you reported her.”
Others argued that the nurse didn’t do anything wrong. One wrote, “Nurses deal with difficult patients all day long, and that nurse likely thought this woman was exaggerating being groggy.” Others countered this, with one saying, “They make too many assumptions, especially pertaining to Black women, and that is the issue of racial bias. They always assume that we are exaggerating.”
Honey has yet to address her incident with the nurse, as a follow-up clip only shows prior footage of her being in the room, with her partner attempting to wake her up.
