A woman in Clearwater, Florida, is claiming on TikTok that the staff at Kensington Gardens Rehab & Nursing Center have been neglecting her and denying her necessary medication while she recovers from multiple spinal surgeries. According to her, she underwent about seven procedures, including a neck fusion, after a spinal cord injury and is currently unable to walk without assistance, relying heavily on physical therapy to regain mobility. But instead of receiving the level of care she expected, she said the staff have been refusing to give her the pain and anxiety medications she is prescribed.
In her caption, she wrote that she had to call paramedics to the facility three different times the day before because the staff would not administer her scheduled doses. “They are supposed to be six times a day not three. This place is cruel and inhumane,” she explained.
She Confronted the Nursing Staff About the Missing Medication
When the patient confronted one of the nurses, an older woman who appears in the video wearing blue scrubs and a patterned head covering, the nurse insisted she had received her medication. The patient pushed back, saying she knew exactly what she had or had not taken, and she had not received anything at midnight nor at several other scheduled times. She also claimed she had not been given her psych medications, including lithium, for the entire two days she had been there.
But during their exchange, the nurse abruptly noticed she was being recorded and asked her to stop filming. When the patient continued recording, the nurse turned and left the room.
The Staff Tries to Resolve the Issue
Not long after, the older nurse returned with another staff member to help address the situation. The second staff member acknowledged the issue and attempted to propose a solution. She suggested that going forward, two nurses should be present for each medication administration so that both parties could verify what was given. The older nurse also added that she would report the patient’s concerns to her supervisor and said the next scheduled dose should arrive at four.
Still, the woman insisted she had not received her midnight dose, arguing that the documentation did not reflect what actually happened. She also believes the staff may be signing off on medication distribution without actually administering anything. “I know if I’ve taken my meds,” she said, adding that she fears they could be taking them themselves.
Netizens React to the Florida Nursing Home Abuse Allegation
In the comments section under her post, many people felt the situation sounded dangerous and urged her to involve higher authorities. “The level of care is concerning,” one person wrote. Another told her, “OMG please contact the charge nurse and administrators. This is terrible I’m so sorry ❤️”
Several believed her suspicion about stolen medication might be valid, with one commenter saying, “Get out asap!! They’re probably stealing your pain meds as well!!!” Someone else added, “Report them to your insurance company that’s medical fraud.”
Not all commenters sided with the patient, though. One viewer scolded her by saying, “You have got a lot of nerve filming staff!” A second defended the nurse’s reaction, writing, “Nurse has the right to ask not to be recorded and should 100% walk away.” A third remarked, “I’m actually glad I’m not working as a RN anymore with this recording obsession! everybody wants to put someone on blast for something.”
