The post was made by Florida Representative Greg Steube and addresses the fact that while this announcement was happening, CNN, ABC, and NBC allegedly refused to “give Americans live coverage of their own President addressing the nation,” despite covering the royal wedding in 2018.
Commenters expressed their frustrations with the congressman’s post, with many of them disagreeing with the comment at the very end of the post that reads, “This is exactly why nobody trusts the media.”
The video above features President Donald Trump making various claims about the Chinese government. He even says, “the Chinese government wanted the US President to lose the next election. And the reason they wanted me to lose is because they knew I was wise to them, charged them billions and billions of dollars worth of tariffs, and built the strongest military anywhere in the world.”
President Trump does not name any specific journalists or outlets in this accusation. However, the incident has resulted in his administration creating a new rule within the Department of Homeland Security that changes the “duration of status” for fixed-term stays for Chinese journalists to a strict 90-day limit, according to The Hill.
Allegedly, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian had said at a briefing in Beijing, “China urges the U.S. to immediately revoke its discriminatory policies targeting Chinese journalists and effectively safeguard their lawful rights and interests in the U.S.”
\The Florida Representative’s X post condemns particular news stations for not airing President Trump’s address, comparing the speech to the royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018. According to Nielsen, the television audience for the wedding was estimated at 29.2 million people in the United States.
