The United States isn’t going through its best period right now, especially with price hikes and the difficulty of accessing health care. Republicans and Donald Trump have been blaming transgender people and immigrants for most things that are wrong with the country. Well, Florida Rep. Maxwell Frost has had enough of these kinds of excuses. He spoke at the Fight Oligarchy tour about how trans people and immigrants shouldn’t be blamed for the chaos taking place in the United States at this point.
In the video, the Florida Rep. is on a podium speaking to a large crowd about why things are wrong with America. He gets passionate as he says the following:
“See, throughout human history the fascists and the authoritarians have a simple playbook: make us blame each other for our problems instead of looking at the billionaires and mega corporations that have been leaving us crumbs for generations. They’re the ones hoarding wealth beyond imagination. We have to tell people the reason you can’t pay your rent has nothing to do with trans people. The reason you don’t have healthcare has nothing to do with immigrants.”
As the crowd cheers for him, the Florida Rep. comes after billionaires, including Elon Musk. “It has to do with billionaires like Elon Musk,” he said. The video was posted on the Reddit community r/thescoop and people had different reactions about it.
People Reacting to the Florida Rep’s Words
Redditors were divided in the comments on whether they, too, should come after billionaires like Elon Musk or not. One person saw that billionaires like Musk are controlling both sides of the government. “Billionaires are playing both sides [Republicans and Democrats] to control government,” they wrote. Another claimed that the Florida Rep. was doing exactly what he was warning people of. They said, “Make us blame eachother? Sounds a lot like what you’re doing right now. And what the leftist media has been doing for decades. Nice admission.” The other half of the people came after Musk and Trump’s supporters as one wrote:
“Look at all the bootlickers still trying to pick fights in the comments section. Musk doesn’t know your name, and Donald Trump HATES YOU. You’re not getting that golden shower, and whatever “wealth” you think you have over the common man is laughable to these guys and only paints yourself as more of a target. Someone went as far as defending billionaires. “Billionaires earned their money, you can too. Stop making excuses and get to work,” they wrote. Well, people didn’t share this sentiment, as they downvoted this comment. Another Redditor was left impressed by the Florida Rep’s passionate speech. “Wow, real democratic politicians exist,” they wrote. While someone else said, “Finally someone speaking the truth!” The Florida Rep. does have a point. Musk and Trump, along with Republicans, have been blaming immigrants and trans people for everything when the current situation has nothing to do with them.
