Kevin Cichowski, a Democrat running for governor of Florida, was recently arrested, prompting criticism of his viability as a politician. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest, stating that the Florida man allegedly assaulted two elderly victims.
According to local media outlets, Cichowski allegedly attacked two victims in Palm Coast by throwing a cellphone at one and striking the other with a cane. He is also accused of threatening them with a firearm. He was arrested shortly afterward.
Reports indicate that Cichowski is expected to face charges including “two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of battery on a person over 65, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, tampering with a witness, and two counts of robbery by sudden snatching.” The local police did not disclose the motive for the assault.
Cichowski has a history of both political ambitions and violence. He ran for Palm Coast mayor in 2021, losing the race, and was arrested in 2024 for domestic battery.

Due to Cichowski’s political affiliations, many commenters also criticized Florida’s Democratic Party. “Florida Democrats must be the worst in the whole country. Even our Democrat Charlie Kirk was a Republican,” said one person, ironically. Others agreed with the sentiment: “Just because someone says they are running for office doesn’t mean they are a credible candidate or that they have any support from that party. But yes, Florida Dems are the worst.”
